Im Rahmen der 20. LOTTERIEN-GALA „Nacht des Sports“ wurden Österreichs Sportler des Jahres, gewählt von den Mitgliedern von Sports Media Austria, vor 1.400 Gästen im Austria Center Vienna geehrt. Bei den Herren entschied Marcel Hirscher die Wahl für sich, Skialpinistin Eva-Maria Brem gewann die Wahl zur Sportlerin des Jahres. Als bestes Team wurde die bei Olympia erfolgreiche Segelpaarung Thomas Zajac/Tanja Frank ausgezeichnet. Diskuswerfer Lukas Weißhaidinger wurden von den Fans zum Aufsteiger des Jahres erkoren. Parasportler des Jahres sind Natalija Eder und Pepo Puch. Special Olympics-Athlet des Jahres ist Langläufer Manuel Auer. Mehr dazu sporthilfe.at.
